Renee attended Hunt Elementary and was a proud member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She loved drama and recently shined as a Lullaby League munchkin in The Wizard of Oz, already dreaming of one day playing a lead role. A counselor at camp noted how her confidence and enthusiasm stood out, a reflection of the radiant spirit she shared everywhere she went.

Beyond the stage, Renee enjoyed spending time at Crider’s, traveling to northern Michigan, and embracing both water and snow sports with a fearless sense of adventure. A dedicated student, she had just completed second grade with straight A’s and was honored by her teachers as a Soaring Eagle.

She was a kind classmate, loyal friend, and spirited teammate—an athlete at heart, but always a cheerleader for everyone around her. Most of all, Renee cherished her role as a loving big sister, which she considered her greatest joy.

Though her life was far too short, Renee’s bright smile, love of learning, and joyful spirit left an indelible mark. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.

Margaret Sheedy

Margaret Sheedy was a shining light and a special gift to all who knew her. With bright blue eyes that radiated happiness, she gave boundless love and kindness to everyone around her.

Mature beyond her years, Margaret had an uncanny ability to read a room and fill it with whatever the moment called for. She knew no strangers—fearlessly approaching and quickly endearing herself to both children and adults alike. Ever organized and punctual, she loved planning her outfits the night before, laying them neatly on her bedroom floor in preparation for the day ahead. With extra time to spare, she often packed her little brother’s backpack for school, always eager to make mornings a little easier for everyone.

Margaret’s Backpack (Memorial Fund) was created to honor her legacy of friendship and inclusiveness. Its mission is to support causes that fill people’s lives with the same things Margaret so freely shared with the world: kindness, patience, giggles, and love.

Virginia "Wynne" Naylor
Virginia "Wynne" Naylor

Virginia "Wynne" Naylor

Wynne Naylor, our oldest daughter and the leader of our girl pack, was always on an adventure. The blonde of our family, she was a devoted big sister to Neely and Reeves and a loyal friend to so many. Wynne’s imagination was limitless, and she asked LOTS of questions—soaking up every answer in her never-ending pursuit to learn. Along with her curiosity about the world, Wynne’s faith was growing too; she loved Jesus and had a desire to know Him more each day.

She had a great love for nature: a hunter, a fisher, and fearless when it came to catching reptiles or insects. Wynne danced and tumbled through life, sharing jokes and laughter wherever she went, yet she was also a fierce athlete. She may not have been the biggest kid her age, but she was one of the scrappiest and most determined competitors you could ever face—and she could run like the wind. Whether on the soccer field, basketball court, tumble mat, or dance stage, Wynne moved with grace and confidence, inspiring everyone who watched her.

Wynne will always be loved. Wynne will always share her love. The More Like Wynne Foundation was established to share Wynne’s great love of the outdoors, her love of God, and her love for her community.

Blakely McCrory
Blakely McCrory

Blakely McCrory

Blakely was a true live wire—funny, outgoing, adventurous, and on the threshold of an extraordinary life surrounded by love. Her heart was Texas-sized. She loved life and befriended everyone she met. She was smart, curious, and inquisitive.

As a baby, she couldn’t wait to talk. We captured a video of her at three months old saying the word “moo” after chatting with her daddy about cows on her granddaddy’s farm. She was an Aggie fan, and like college athlete recruits, she verbally committed to attending Texas A&M University after high school.

An animal lover through and through, Blakely adored the outdoors and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Her deep belly laugh could be heard after she successfully pulled off one of her pranks—like sending her pet box turtle to work inside her mom’s purse. Her smile and humor were contagious.

She loved performing in plays and took pride in tackling complex characters, especially the sassy ones. Her beautiful voice and solo musical performances often brought her family to tears of joy. Blakely was also strong in her faith, memorizing Bible verses and singing hymns loudly during her school chapel.

She brightened and touched the lives of everyone who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and light.

Sarah Marsh
Sarah Marsh

Sarah Marsh

Sarah was a joyful, adventurous, affectionate little girl, who often carried a bit of mischief in her back pocket. Known at home as “Sissy” or “Little,” she was tough and tender, sassy and snuggly, and so much fun!

Sarah was a natural leader, a steadfast friend, and a connoisseur of candy and raw oysters. She was driven by a deep sense of justice (taking after her big brother) and had an innate gift for welcoming, including, and truly seeing others.

She lived in a way that drew others in while making them feel uniquely special — like she was their personal cheerleader. The name Sarah means “princess,” daughter of a king, and she is that — daughter of The King — and now lives with Him in glory forever with her H27 friends and loved ones who’ve gone before.

Until we meet her there, we will honor and celebrate the ways Sarah loved others so well.

A day of Kellyanne’s life never went by without her thinking about other people and how to bring kindness and joy to everyone’s lives. Kellyanne leaves behind an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire all who were touched by her extraordinary soul.

The Kellyanne Elizabeth Lytal Memorial Foundation was established with the goal of spreading kindness in the world and supporting charitable causes that were near and dear to Kellyanne’s beautiful heart. We ask that you carry Kellyanne’s spirit forward with kindness, joy, and a little sparkle.

Hanna & Rebecca Lawrence
Hanna & Rebecca Lawrence

Hanna & Rebecca Lawrence

Hanna and Rebecca shared a bond that only twins could understand. They were so different, but had the sweetest friendship. They both loved books, and could stay up all night reading to each other. And they could spend hours playing make believe games with each playing multiple starring roles. They both looked up to and wanted to be just like their big sister Harper.

Hanna had endless energy and imagination and could always be found building, drawing, and creating. She would make new friends wherever she went, as soon as she got there. She loved to push buttons and boundaries, but had a talent for doing it in a way where you could not help but smile. She wanted to be a chef when she grew up so she could open a restaurant that would feed people in need for free.

Rebecca loved to snuggle and was always up for a family movie night. She loved her sisters and friends but was also independent and happy doing her own thing. Her laugh was infectious, and no one could make her laugh as much or as hard as Hanna did. She loved all animals, whether real or plush. She had her own clear sense of fashion and always knew the exact look she wanted. She was sweet and kind, but had a killer eye-roll. She wanted to be a teacher when she grew up.

They were happy girls.

The Hanna and Rebecca Lawrence Charitable Fund will support causes that amplify Hanna and Rebecca's passions and spread the joys and the meaning of their lives to others.

Lainey Landry
Lainey Landry

Lainey Landry

Lainey Landry lit up every room she entered with a spark. As a daughter, she was both fierce and tender, she smoothed out the edges of the boys in our family. Her brothers, Daniel and Luke, carried a constant piece of her light in their laughter and in the way she insisted they play card games or join in impromptu dance parties. Even her cats and dog felt the steadiness of her kindness. She was rooted in her faith, the loudest singer in church pews, praying daily, believing deeply, and living like the joy of Christ radiated through her.

Lainey was a kind and fun friend, she made adults laugh like children, and she made each person in her orbit feel seen. Her kindness was not quiet; it was a burst of color and warmth, freely given. Though her life ended on July 4th, her giggles, her bold confidence, her sweet snuggles, her wild hair, her dance moves, her beauty, her nicknames, her constant love for her family—continue to shimmer. To continue the legacy of our precious Lainey Boo, we have established the Lainey Landry Foundation.

She was her brother’s biggest fan. A serial entrepreneur, she founded Mary Kate’s and Harry’s Cookies and Derpy Rainbow Slime Shop. The self-proclaimed Cheese Queen, Pickle Queen, and #1 Swiftie, she carried her titles with pride. Most of all, she was a proud mommy to her puppy, Pickles.

Janie Hunt
Janie Hunt

Janie Hunt

For nine beautiful years, Janie Hunt filled the world with joy, kindness, and laughter—leaving a lasting imprint on everyone blessed to know her. Born on May 8, 2016, in Dallas, she was a cherished daughter and a devoted sister. Though her life was heartbreakingly brief, it overflowed with purpose and love.

Janie embraced school, faith, friendship, and family with boundless enthusiasm. Known for her sharp mind, creativity, and adventurous spirit, she excelled in academics, the arts, athletics, and service. From starring as Scuttle in The Little Mermaid to earning art and math honors, from Girl Scouts and basketball to dreaming of tennis and volleyball, her talents were as varied as they were remarkable.

Above all, Janie embodied compassion. Whether consoling homesick campers, baking for school fundraisers, or giving away her own belongings to those in need, she lived out her favorite verse, Luke 10:27: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart … and love your neighbor as yourself.” Her smile was a beacon, her faith an inspiration, and her heart a gift to all.

Though taken too soon in the tragic flood at Camp Mystic on July 4, 2025, Janie’s legacy will continue in the love she gave and the lives she touched. Her bright light will forever shine in the hearts of her parents, siblings, and all who knew and loved her.

She grew up on her family’s ranch in Bellville, where she embraced life with a joyful spirit—loving flowers, butterflies, music, and make-believe—while excelling in school, art, piano, sports, and horsemanship. A devoted big sister, true friend, and generous soul, Virginia dreamed of becoming a mother, teacher, composer, and cowgirl.

Though her time was brief, she lived it fully. Her bright light, faith, and love will forever shine in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Hadley Hanna
Hadley Hanna

Hadley Hanna

Whether she was dancing around the house, tumbling proudly at Mustang Cheer, or shouting "Hook 'em Horns!", Hadley brought joy wherever she went.

She loved giraffes, squishmallows, cake pops and pink drinks with no inclusions from Starbucks, drawing, coloring and creating, singing in the shower at camp, reading with her mom in her bed and tickles from dad at bedtime. She was crazy about her sisters and her sister cousins, her grandparents and her many aunts, uncles and cousins. She had main character energy. She was a friend to all. She never met a stranger or if she did, they weren’t one for long. She was fiercely loyal. If a friend needed a pick me up or a special note, Hadley was ready and waiting.

Hadley was the biggest ray of sunshine, always smiling, singing, dancing, and doing cartwheels as she went along her way. She lit up every room with her smile, her laughter and her love, spreading joy to those along the way. That is who Hadley is and will be remembered as. Our angel: beautiful on the inside and out, observant, compassionate, caring, kind sill, smart, full of love and life, a vibrant way of light. Her smile, spirit and zest for life were unmatched and have been since the day she was born. We created the Hugs From Hadley Foundation with the hopes of continuing her bright legacy.

Anna “Margaret” Bellows
Anna “Margaret” Bellows

Anna “Margaret” Bellows

From the moment our dear Margaret was born, she was a fountain of joy, making the world better just by being in it. Her spunk, tenacity, wit, and effortless kindness were evident to all who knew her, and every day was more fun with her in it.

Everything about Margaret was BIG. When she was a baby, she couldn’t say “Margaret,” and it came out as “Mega.” The nickname stuck because that’s the way she lived. Her voice, her laugh, her hugs, and her kisses—they were all BIG. Margaret was spirited, with so much zest for life. She was admirably confident and always true to herself.

Incredibly empathetic, Margaret loved and cared for others so deeply. But most importantly, she had faith in God, always reminding us, “God has a plan; we just don’t know what it is yet.”

The hole that a death leaves is enormous, but it is our job to decide how we intend to fill it. I suggest that we live as Mega did — filling the world with more joy, light, and love. Once we do, Margaret — and all of Heaven’s 27 — will forever shine.

Lucy Dillon
Lucy Dillon

Lucy Dillon

Lucy was bright, enthusiastic, and a gifted student who loved her school, teachers, and classmates. She enjoyed softball, but basketball was her greatest passion. Always ready for a challenge, she gave 100% in everything she did. Kind and compassionate, she was a natural leader who never failed to cheer for the underdog. Lucy will be forever missed and never forgotten by all who knew her.

Molly DeWitt
Molly DeWitt

Molly DeWitt

Molly was a bright star in a sometimes troubled world — a magnetic force who drew people in with her genuine kindness and beaming smile. She had a gift for making others feel included, always going out of her way to ensure no one was left on the sidelines. She saw the world in the most brilliant colors, and her vivid imagination was constantly at work. Her creativity was astounding — whether she was building elaborate Barbie houses from Amazon boxes or drawing detailed portraits of her family. She had endless questions about everything around her.

A natural athlete, Molly was a force on the field. She excelled at skiing, softball, basketball, and swimming, but her true love was soccer. She was fast, aggressive, and determined, giving 100% at every game and practice. Her signature move was a seamless scissor at full speed — always impressive to watch.

Molly’s faith was unwavering. She was deeply aware of her special relationship with God, and her journals reveal handwritten prayers and notes that show the strength of that connection. Her passion for people extended to those on the margins, particularly the homeless, refugees, and children with disabilities. In her honor, the Molly Claire DeWitt Legacy Fund was created to continue her work and provide support for these causes.

Molly lived every day to the fullest. I challenge you to Live Like Molly.

Lila Bonner

Our precious daughter, Lila Bonner, with an electric smile and soulful eyes, was the light of our family. Lila was a natural-born leader, an old soul whose maturity far exceeded her age, and a gentle caretaker who loved all creatures, big and small.

The big sister you could only dream of having, Lila fiercely loved her little sisters, Scarlett and Wynn, and made us proud to be her parents every single day. She was the friend who made everyone feel free to be silly, make mistakes, or have a hard day — because she would love them through it all. With a heart bigger than the sky, our “Lila Bug” never missed an opportunity to hold a hand or give one of her gentle hugs.

Her confidence and determination left no doubt that she would one day fulfill her dream of opening and operating an animal rescue. Although Lila’s life was tragically cut short, her light, legacy, and story will carry on. The Lila’s Light Foundation will help animals affected by natural disasters, just as she would have wanted. Our mission is to ensure her legacy — and her radiant light — continues to shine.

Until we meet her there, we will honor and celebrate the ways Sarah loved others so well.

The self-proclaimed Cheese Queen, Pickle Queen, and #1 Swiftie, she carried her titles with pride. Most of all, she was a proud mommy to her puppy, Pickles.

Lucy Dillon

Lila Bonner

Mary Grace Baker

Mary Grace Baker

Mary Grace Baker, with her angelic ringlet curls, was a true “girl’s girl” who adored pink, sparkles, and bows. This spring, she celebrated her First Holy Communion and ended the school year with a special honor — the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Award, recognizing her for living out Christian values in her second-grade class. A radiant light, remembered with endless love.

Greta Toranzo

Greta Toranzo

Greta Katherine Toranzo (10) had an infectious smile. She was kind and creative, athletic and brave, smart and wise beyond her years. A proud all-A honor student and cheerleader at Sinclair Elementary, Greta approached everything she did with heart and enthusiasm.

Her favorite color was blue, and she loved dogs and helping with babies and little children. She had a beautiful left-handed forehand and dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player. Greta was also a talented swimmer and had been a member of the Briar Club Barracudas Swim Team since the age of five.

She loved listening to music—especially Taylor Swift and Benson Boone—and making up dances with her friends. Greta had a gift for making others feel seen, included, and loved. She gave the very best hugs and will forever be remembered as our brightest light.

Mary Barrett was a child who lived life to the fullest. She wanted to participate in every activity and attend every event; time held no bounds. She loved everything from art to basketball, dance to skiing, and everything in between. Wise beyond her years, she brought her family along for every adventure, never stopping in her pursuit of new experiences and excitement.

She was bold, brave, stubborn, and creative. She loved playing Rummikub and cards with her family, dancing with friends, and exploring all that God’s Earth had to offer. Her laugh was contagious, her sense of humor sharp and witty, and she embodied everything that is good and right.

Mary Barrett had an innate sense of who she was. In her eight wonderful years, she challenged herself, embraced the things that gave her butterflies, and filled her days with joy, curiosity, and love. She understood that the simplest pleasures—like feeling the cold wind on a ski hill or sharing a quiet movie night with popcorn (always with M&Ms)—were life’s greatest treasures. She truly knew the secrets to a well-lived life.

Mary Barrett’s friends, family, and community miss her dearly. She was a friend to all, a loving big sister, and a cherished daughter. Her radiant smile, sparkling eyes, and unwavering loyalty will live with us forever.

Renee Marilyn Smajstrla, age 8, of Ingram, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Hunt, Texas. She was born on September 6, 2016, in Kerrville, and in her short years, she brought joy, confidence, and laughter to everyone who knew her.

She lived in a way that drew others in while making them feel uniquely special — like she was their personal cheerleader. The name Sarah means “princess,” daughter of a king, and she is that — daughter of The King — and now lives with Him in glory forever with her H27 friends and loved ones who’ve gone before.

Lila Bonner

OUR MISSION

We continue the work

The Foundation was created not simply to remember, but to continue what our girls began. While we can no longer hold them in our arms, we carry them forward through action—lifting others as they so naturally did in life.

Donating to Heaven’s 27 will fund the individual girls’ foundations equally. Our initiatives may be diverse, but our mission is clear: to honor their legacy by strengthening our communities and making them shine brighter. This Foundation is, in every sense, the sum of their hearts.

As families, we have found resilience in one another and purpose in building something greater than our loss. Guided by faith, we believe their story continues—and through this work, we ensure it does.

Campaign for Camp Safety

The Campaign for Camp Safety was launched by a coalition of parents of the 27 girls (“Heaven’s 27”) who lost their lives in the devastating flood at Camp Mystic on July 4, 2025. From the deepest grief has come a commitment: to ensure other families never suffer the same heartbreak and preventable loss.

Camp Safety Legislation Passed in Texas! But our work is not done.

Her favorite color was blue, and she loved dogs and helping with babies and little children. She had a beautiful left-handed forehand and dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player. Greta was also a talented swimmer and had been a member of the Briar Club Barracudas Swim Team since the age of five.

Renee Smajstrla

Renee Smajstrla

Renee Marilyn Smajstrla, age 8, of Ingram, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Hunt, Texas. She was born on September 6, 2016, in Kerrville, and in her short years, she brought joy, confidence, and laughter to everyone who knew her.

Abby Pohl

Abby Pohl

Abby had a magical life force that filled every room with light and laughter. Her quirky sense of humor and the mischievous twinkle in her eyes made her a magnet for others—many of whom lovingly called her their best friend.

She found joy in everything she did, from dance and sports to school and the great outdoors. Abby embraced life with energy, curiosity, and a heart full of kindness.

To carry her spirit forward, the Abby Lynn Pohl Memorial Fund will support sports and recreational programs in the City of Austin and contribute to the preservation and conservation of natural spaces she so dearly loved.

Eloise "Lulu" Peck

Eloise "Lulu" Peck

Eloise “Lulu” Peck filled our world with love, laughter, and light. With an altruistic heart as big as her smile, she made everyone feel important—both her two-legged and four-legged friends alike. She had a natural way of making all creatures feel safe and adored.

Her compassion was limitless, and her smile was unforgettable. Lulu inspired us to care deeply, and we will continue Living for Lulu.

The Living for Lulu Fund was created to honor the radiant spirit of Lulu Peck by continuing her legacy of compassion. Our mission is to bring comfort, healing, and hope to children and animals in need—reflecting the love, empathy, and joy that Lulu shared so freely in her short but impactful life.

Linnie McCown

Linnie McCown

Linnie Anne McCown was a bright light who brought joy, warmth, and friendship to everyone she met. With her unforgettable giggle, kind heart, and caring spirit, she had a remarkable way of connecting with others and making everyone feel special and included. Linnie radiated love in all that she did. Though her life was far too short, the joy she shared will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.

Sarah Marsh

Kellyanne Lytal

Kellyanne Lytal

Kellyanne brought sparkle and joy into every space she entered with a sweet presence that was vibrant, unforgettable, and deeply cherished. She was the perfect combination of beauty and athleticism; cautious yet carefree; serious but wildly fun-loving with an unshakeable spirit.

Mary Kate Jacobe

Mary Kate Jacobe

Mary Kate Jacobe was beautiful and confident beyond her years — always a step ahead. Joyful, silly, and full of life, she was immeasurably sweet and a fiercely loyal friend.

Janie Hunt

Virginia Hollis

Virginia Hollis

Virginia “Yah Yah” Larins Hollis was born on March 23, 2017, and was called home to God on July 4, 2025, after joyful days at Camp Mystic. In her eight precious years, she filled the world with laughter, creativity, adventure, and faith.

Ellen Getten

Ellen Getten

Ellen woke up happy, went to sleep happy, and made everyone around her happy. She gave every person a hug and would not let anyone leave her presence without a big one. There were no strangers in her life — only people she had not yet met and hugged. Her big sister was her greatest cheerleader and her very best friend. Gwynne will miss Ellen every single day.

Katherine Ferruzzo

Katherine Ferruzzo

Katherine had a larger than life personality. She had a contagious spirit as well as a deep compassion for others, especially those with special needs. Katherine devoted hundreds of hours to volunteering with organizations serving the special needs community. She was thrilled to have been accepted to The University of Texas, where she planned to pursue a degree in Special Education. Katherine is a hero whose compassion and bravery will never be forgotten.

Chloe Childress

Chloe Childress

Chloe Madeline Childress, 18, of Houston, Texas, gave her life on July 4, 2025, in the Bubble Inn Cabin with her fellow co-counselor, to save her campers. She was set to attend the University of Texas this fall, studying pre-med to become a doctor. She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Wendie, and her brother, Jack Childress (15).

Lucy Dillon
